'Levee' Special Edition
“Not that it matters much. You plan all-out for one disaster and you miss another disaster entirely. You plan for the hurricane but its the black mold that takes your house.” - from Levee, text by George Weld
A year after the trade edition of Levee was released, the special edition of Levee features a handcrafted wooden frame, constructed to hold both Levee and Through a River Darkly. Sealed with linseed oil, with a unique gelatin silver print mounted on the box, inside is a signed, dated copy of the Levee trade edition (published by VOID, Athens). Levee’s special edition is an edition of 20.
Under the trade edition of Levee lies Through a River Darkly, a signed and editioned artist booklet of photographs that enter the river. These photographs are made of women who practice cold dipping, or submerging themselves into cold water as a way to rebalance their minds with their bodies. A practitioner myself, these photographs include women I know and am close to. In photographing their bodies, there is a contrast between how the light is rendered in the water and above the water line. Through a River Darkly is an edition of 60.
Levee walks along the river; Through a River Darkly enters it.
All frames, artist books, and prints were constructed and created by Adrianna. Special thanks to CPW in Kingston and Jenia Fridlyand for space to construct and print this special edition.
